I think a lot of people go for the 100 when going into the GFX system thinking its going be better than the 50. And in pretty much every measurable way, it is. There's obviously the ludicrously large file sizes and resolution, better high ISO performance and a bigger dynamic range. The RAW files are not easy to work though, there is so much in that file that you have to work the exposure, curves, tweak the colours across the frame often and massage the whole image to release all it can be. When you do, the results are incredible but still very much slanted towards commercial application rather than joyous shooting and artistic expression.

The 50 sensor is much sweeter to work with, not too surprisingly. You can pick a film simulation and quite often get something that looks fabulous right off the card. The colours just pop as soon as the review appears in the EVF and if you do process, the files are much easier to work.

I use the 100 and 50s ii daily and I'd never choose to use the 100 just for fun. As a big fan of the GFX cameras, a  swap from the 100 to the SL makes all the sense to me

I sold my GFX as well, but not for the SL2 - I chose the Hasselblad X2D instead. There is probably no better pair in diversity on the planet than a recent digital M and X2D.

Exactly!

I also have rangefinders and an X2D. And last month, out of curiosity, I bought a GFX 100S II, which I sold three weeks later. I didn't like anything about this camera: neither the user experience, nor the resulting files. The files produced by the M11 and X2D require much less post-processing time than the files from the GFX.

Edit: In fact, I have a tradition: every few years I buy the latest Sony and/or Fuji camera to remind myself why I don’t like these cameras😂
