Wetzlar CoP 2024 in Wetzlar

Hello fellow Leica enthusiasts! I hope I am not violating any rules here, but I am planning my tour of Wetzlar for the Celebration of Photography in October. This will be my 6th tour for my derleicamantours group. I am the current editor of the LSI Viewfinder journal, and president emeritus of this organization as well. I also conceived of and brought to fruition several edition Leica for thee LHSA. Black Paint M6TTL, Hammertone, MP3 and the special edition 50 APO.

Here are some details:

We will be in Wetzlar for the annual Celebration of Photography this year, October 9 through the 12^th. This year, Leica is celebrating the 70^th anniversary of the M camera.

Leitz Park is a beautiful venue for this event.

We will be at the Oskar Barnack Awards and Banquet. Leica will have special tours of the factory, service department and museum, and the archive. We will also visit the fabled home of Ernst Leitz II, Haus Friedwart. Other special tours will be arranged through Leica.

We will meet with Andreas Kaufmann, Stefan Daniel and Peter Karbe. I will also take my tour members into old Wetzlar, where we will see the old town with such famous sites as the old factory, the Hausertor Werke, Villa Rosenberg and the old Leitz Administration building where the decision to make the Leica took place in 1925. We will pay a visit to Lars Netopils. We will pay a visit to the graves of Oskar Barnack and the Leitz family. I will have more details as we get closer to the event.
