AdjusterBrett Posted July 17, 2024 Share #43 Posted July 17, 2024 Reality, can't afford the lux nor the apo. If you ever get the urge - love to see (and since I'm way out on a limb here - might as well try and break it with more than one) comparatives or even just your opinion on the aforementioned pana 50/1.4 or the Voigt APO 50. The Panasonic is by no means a 'cheap' lens but they do pop on the used arena occasionally. The Voigt is downright cheap in comparison. BTW I adore the peacock picture, don't know why - just do (the lone diner is cool - but the pop/light on the soon to be angry bird is intense). I've been playing around with the summilux sl 50 on an SL2 and definitely find it has something special compared to any other option, even still in 2025. Can't believe how swirly the APO gets in comparison, and also pretty shocked to see the sigma render warmer than the summilux, as usually I think the Leica's are some of the warmest rendering lenses which is what makes them good for skin tones, and part of what makes people say the sigma's are so boring is how neutral they are. looking forward to trying the 50 summilux on the SL3 and my sigma fp L, which I think may be a slightly superior sensor to the SL3 due to it's noise/color/dynamic range. But I really can't believe how underrated this summilux SL is, to me it gives me the same magic of the Q 28 summilux lens but even better, all that huge glass really is letting in more light and color in a subtly better way than anything else, it's just the laws of physics ultimately. I really wish they made more summilux SL lenses. since I'm more of a nikon user these days I'm debating buying the 58mm f0.95 Noct, which is another huge chunk of glass that may be the only competitor to the 50 summilux SL to me, in terms of creating just an overall beautiful image. the fuji 55mm f1.7, leica noctilux, etc nothing else is really as good in my experience. It's not quite the leica philosophy to make glass as big as necessary for the best image quality but I guess the moral of the story is size definitely matters
