mdymczyk Posted June 27, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I'm looking at a pretty molested example of a Standardized Leica I and I would like to perform some rough cleaning of the shutter mechanism. I removed the exposure time knob with no issues, but I'm wondering how to remove the cover over the mechanism on the top plate. It looks like my unit was repainted at some point and this makes the top plate and the cover pretty much sticking together. Should this cover unscrew? Is it just pressed in? Any good advice in this case? Thanks a lot for your help! Marcin Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Hi mdymczyk, Take a look here Leica I C / Standard - how to remove the cover under the exposure time knob. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jerzy Posted June 27, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 27, 2024 There are 2 half round cutouts. Take smaller, rounded pliers and unscrew (counterclockwise). But do not insert pliers too deep, not to damage the shutter
mdymczyk Posted June 27, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted June 27, 2024 Thanks a lot @jerzy - lovely, that went pretty smooth with pliers for very small circlips (Seger rings). With a bit of clean and lube the camera seems to be coming back to life
