Has somebody tried this?

Its giving a realistic shutter count for my M10-R

I've used it a few times on my camera and I agree, the count seems realistic.  But I can also see the argument for including the count under camera info in the main menu.  If for no other reason it may help someone trying to choose which pre-owned leica to take home from the store.

Fine. Let them have access to the menu. And if the camera gets bricked up ,Leica has ZERO liability and if the camera gets sent in to them it goes to the bottom of the incoming repair list.

You don't need access to any service menu. The question is why are they hiding information about my camera from me like the shutter count? I should be able to go to my menu and scroll to camera information and there it should be all the information about my camera such as the shutter count.

Why is a manufacturer hiding information from me? What's the point of it? I'm not asking for some secret access to any menus.

I wrote to the technical service that develops the iPhone software that connects to the M cameras and I asked them that for many of use, the shutter counter is essential, especially in the second hand resell market. Usually, for all suggestions, they respond immediately for suggestions. As they don't allow to share the access codes to the firmware (understandable), they could have that information display on the app... but this time no answer. Argh.

I am starting to think the shutter is un-breakable. I have made well over 100K photos with at least two of my five M10 cameras, the M10-R and also with my M10-P, they are still working perfectly fine.

It would be nice to have as other cameras from other brands show it in the EXIF data.

I’ve had the shutter fail and replaced under warranty in my M10 and M11.  My year-old M10-R with ~50k clicks is fine. So are my M240 and M10-P both with well over 100k clicks.

I have found out about this M10 "secret" service menu in 2021 and wrote several times about it on the forum. There IS a service menu for any M10 for sure with the shutter actuations number, but it must be one of Wetzlar's best kept secrets. Also a valid point - does live view count as a shutter actuation in Leica universe?
Here is another image of the menu one more time. The guy who knows how to enter it will not tell me.

Did anybody EVER worry about the shutter count of any film camera?  Of course not.  So why worry about it now?  Just because the information is available with a digital camera doesn't mean it's worth any concern.  Does the shutter work; does it not work?  That's pretty much the only thing to consider if buying a used camera.
