The blacks became red, even worse colorshift than a m8. Personally I like the images from the 50mm more, but not so much because of the lens but of their composition and light. I doubt it has anything to do with a Sigma lens. But by the way of processing the image. E.g. open the image within Photoshop or in any other image editor. (The web picture has no colour profile either ---> assigning an sRGB profile seems best). To check the RGB distribution / gamut of the picture if it keep track by shadows (and highlight). From the "levels" tool, I shifted the "highlight" point as far as possible to the left. (Old fashioned editing trick for checking. You also can make use of "gamut" warning information, but these are "fixed" to a certain default level). Welcome, dear visitor! Normally coming into the low level shadow areas, within a balanced distribution, there should be less and less of the areas to be shown. Just parts near "real" black levels. (Just in de down right area a small spot). But as by a value of "2" in a range from 0-255 do have this big shown "reddish" area already "by processing". That's the reason of your observations.  Edited August 31 by Babylonia
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!       Result at "level 2"  And you can see "which" colour do have far to high RGB levels in this low value areas around level 2. Olaf_ZG Posted August 31 Share #142  Posted August 31 At @Babylonia, @LocalHero1953: obviously my joke didn’t came through. A comparison was made between two lenses. In one set her shirt is black, in the other one her shirt is red. My joke was intended as a throwback to the m8 where black sometimes wouldn’t render as black, but purple, due to a IR filter error. So, as here we see the lux with pure blacks, and the sigma pure reds, I made the comment.

Just checking: you saw that the two images in my first post are my actual Sigma-Summilux comparisons? The third, the one with the red top, was posted just for her laugh. AdjusterBrett Posted September 7 Share #147 Â Posted September 7 Advertisement (gone after registration) For anyone (like myself) who has followed, read, admired the shots, and simply who doesn't have that good an eye - this post - most certainly serves to keep ME in my place as a weekend hack. Â I absolutely LOVE how the throwback joke (M8) sent us down a technical rabbit hole - which only reinforces said 'technicians' opinion, and OPENS my eyes. Â My only comment is I'm STILL waiting on him to acquire the sigma DG DN 50/1.2 (and since I'm spending his money, hope he grabs a Voigt 50mm APO to further the comparison). -- Weekend hack (proud father), patiently waiting. OH - and feel free to post more photos - I seemingly learn from the comments on them, setting aside the gazing attempt to compare on my own.
