Hi all,

I'm just trying to see what differences there are, if any, between the 50/2 (V2 I believe) where one says Leitz Canada around the front element and the other says Leitz / Leica E55 on it.

From what I can gather both Leitz ones are made in Canada and look same apart from the E55 marking.

Are there any differences? I assume one with Leica on it is made in Germany.

Thank you.

Not counting the manufacturing country,

the nice thing is this is indeed very good lens.

I use one (two !) for so many decades, and "same" lens in M mount (with 8 aperture blades in place of six in R)

...

In Wiki, (link)

same thing for "inscriptions"

" ...

  • Inscriptions - LEICA SUMMICRON-R 1:2/50 E 55 3XXXXXX
    LEITZ SUMMICRON-R 1:2/50 3XXXXXX
    SUMMICRON-R 1:2/50 LEITZ CANADA 3XXXXXX

"

☺️

Enjoy the lens if you have one.
