The only filter I use is a Leica silver chrome E46 filter. I swapped the lens from a black rim Leica E46 yellow filter in it, when shooting black and white.

I prefer using the lens without a filter when using a color Digital M or color film stock and I also prefer using it without a lens hood.

Forgot to follow up: do you find this filter causes additional vignetting if you use the updated hood, or flaring if you don’t use the hood?

I have the breakthrough ND filter to use the lens wide open at really bright situation to keep the glowy effect.

Apart from that, the e46 UV filter is my daily. As Patrick mentioned, I too skipped the hood nowadays for a smaller footprint.

Thanks! What lens cap do you use without the hood?

This post suggests it doesn't work in combination with the reissue hood:

He was talking about the OLLUX hood, not the round hood.

Of course the filter doesn’t work with round hood because it doesn’t have the front thread. But it is thin enough for OLLUX to snap on.

That isn't how I read the comment:

"Unfortunately, the OLLUX style hood does not work even with the ultra thin Eins unx-9625 UV filter."

But I have no experience with this hood or filter. Have you tried it yourself?

Yes, unfortunately, the EINS filter does not work with either hood. Although it’s thin (1.1mm), it shifts the position of the lens pin, preventing proper attachment of the hood. However, if I want to use a UV filter with the OLLUX, I just drop a B+W 43mm UV filter upside down inside the lens. The hood connects without any issues, and the filter does not move once the hood is attached.

Doesn't the filter touch the front glass of the lens? Just wondering

Can you show this?

It doesn’t pose any risk and doesn’t come into contact with the lens front element. It’s actually very safe. Just reverse the filter so the rear threads are on top. The B+W version I have is the slim fits perfectly, though I haven’t tried other UV filter brands. It doesn’t leave any marks on the lens. I’ve used it many times when attaching the OLLUX.
