Documenting artwork is best done with continuous lighting, most often with polarizing both lights and lens. Also, it is important to remember that most painting are there dimensional: brush stokes, knifed paint, etc. And you better include some form of colour checker or patches in order to come anywhere close to the colours of the artwork, and for the eventual use of the reproduction.
