My new SL3 was delivered yesterday and I was able to take a number of successful test shots. They were beautiful files and I was very pleased with my purchase. Today, as I was taking a few shots the camera began to vibrate quite violently - as if I had engaged Sensor Cleaning (which I had not) or the IS had gone crazy. The shaking continued for a few seconds after I turned the camera off. I turned the camera right off, removed the fully charged battery for 10 minutes then reinstalled it and tried again. The "On" switch glows fine but nothing else happens - no screens, no reaction to any controls.

Clearly it has to go back to Leica but I wondered if anybody else has had this issue.

Meanwhile, back to my trusty Ms.

Haven't heard about such an issue with SL3 & should't happen, clearly. Appears to be an extensive overhaul, covered by guarantee, but taking time. So you may request a new body or, possibly, you can have another body to use until service is done.

Unfortunately electronic components can have early failures. Not often, but it can happen and is unpredictable. I hope that Leica will provide a speedy replacement for you.

BillCB,  Sorry to hear about your new SL3 event.  I suggest you contact the store or venue where you bought the camera.  If its a Leica Store, they should tell you to send the camera back and they should replace it immediately.  Do not delay the return.  It should be replaced and not sent to Leica for "repair".  This is a simple swap out.  Just make sure you have all the packing materials, printed materials, strap, battery etc to enable the return.  If you bought it from B&H Photo, just call them and get a return authorization number and they will swap out the camera.  The SL3 does have "birthing" issues and it will take Leica a while to work out the bugs.  Hopefully not a long as the 2+ years with the M11 variants bugs...still ongoing debugging by Leica.  r/ Mark

Thank you all for your suggestions - and sympathy. Fortunately my dealer, Rangefinder in Hong Kong, is going to replace the camera. He's even sending me a Fedex return label for the package. Exemplary service.

BillCB,  This is good news for you.  Rangefinder is a very good dealer and will make it right as you now know.  Enjoy your new SL3 when it arrives and hopefully with no issues.  r/ Mark
