Landberg Posted June 4, 2024 Share #1  Posted June 4, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! I need a little bit of help here. I have a Leica M4P that is really close in focusing perfectly. It's slightly front focusing (the focus is on the nose instead of the eyes). Before sending it to Leica or another shop that has a long waiting line i was thinking of giving it a try. I always corrected my Digital M cameras because of the easy of an LCD screen. My question, do i adjust the focus towards infinity or the other way if the focus is on the nose when I focus on the eyes? Thank you! Advertisement Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Hi Landberg, Take a look here Leica rangefinder adjustment?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fsb Posted June 22, 2024 Share #2  Posted June 22, 2024 An adjustment of the range finder is possible. A DIY approach is not recommended. Several repair station are able to help you, depends where you are living. For US citizens, DAG will help you or here in Germany, Leica Wetzlar offer a 2hours quick  check with 2 days reservation by telephone. I understand, you have trouble with both cameras (digital and M4) with the lenses. So it would be great to handle together cameras and lenses for a perfect alignment of the mechanical interface between lens and camera. Please keep in mind, the rangefinder will be exactly only for one f-number of a specific lens. Any change of the f-number yields to front or back focus. My rangefinders are adjusted perfectly for full open, By reducing the f-number of 1 or 2 stages, the focal point of the lens change. This is a system immanence problem of range finder cameras and can’t be overcome in a  mechanical way, only live view will help here Sent the equipment directly to the repair station, not via a leica shop. Photon42 Posted June 22, 2024 Share #3 Â Posted June 22, 2024 That sounds a little over the top. Landberg seems to know what and how to do (my thinking here would be to adjust the focus towards near, but it really is just a wild guess).
