Advertisement Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Hi BjarniM, Take a look here Summicron from 1956: Which shape is this lens in?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mute-on Posted June 1, 2024 Share #2 Posted June 1, 2024 The first photo shows severe haze or fungus in the rear elements, so bad shape.
250swb Posted June 1, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 1, 2024 Fungus! And while it can be cleaned the fungus has probably etched the glass by now, so a lens that's in a bad way.

spydrxx Posted June 1, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 1, 2024 Horrible shape...take a pass on it! As for telling the difference between haze and fungus, do a little forum searching for lots of discussion on this topic, as well as the issues with trying to clean each. I recently purchased a rather unique lens which had a little fungus on the inner surface of one element, and it was well cleaned by a trained technician...but it hadn't had the years to etch the glass, like the one you showed.

Haze can form around tiny particles of dust and make spots along with an overall hazy surface, but looking closely it appears that your spots are accompanied by tendrils. TBH a sharper image would help.
