I have been offered this Summicron 50mm Dual Range type 2 from 1956 for 400 USD.

From these photographs, which shape would you say the glass is in?

Fungus! And while it can be cleaned the fungus has probably etched the glass by now, so a lens that's in a bad way.

How can you tell if it’s haze or fungus only from photos? Any particilar signs?

Horrible shape...take a pass on it! As for telling the difference between haze and fungus, do a little forum searching for lots of discussion on this topic, as well as the issues with trying to clean each. I recently purchased a rather unique lens which had a little fungus on the inner surface of one element, and it was well cleaned by a trained technician...but it hadn't had the years to etch the glass, like the one you showed.

Haze can form around tiny particles of dust and make spots along with an overall hazy surface, but looking closely it appears that your spots are accompanied by tendrils. TBH a sharper image would help.

Sorry, but that’s the only photos I did get from the seller.
