daniel rochard Posted May 27, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I purchased a Leica Q3 which I am satisfied with. But I have a recurring problem during use where I regularly switch from photo mode to video mode. How to avoid this inconvenience. Thanks for your help Daniel Edited May 27, 2024 by daniel rochard

JNK100 Posted May 27, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2024 Daniel - I think you have inadvertently used your name as the post title.
Barralad Posted May 27, 2024 Share #3 Posted May 27, 2024 Also interested to hear about this as I too am a new Q3 owner and this happened yesterday on its first outing.
David Wien Posted May 27, 2024 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2024 I have the same problem. I just had to teach myself to avoid use of the touch screen — except for the other irritation: having to reset the spot focus to the centre... 😀 David
Ad Dieleman Posted May 27, 2024 Share #5 Posted May 27, 2024 This inadvertent switch to video happens to me sometimes. You can swipe to the right to switch to video and it's all too easy to do that by accident.
haelio Posted May 29, 2024 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2024 I wish this could be disabled. I have little to zero interest in Video, and for the times I would like to try it, I'd be happy to jump into the menus. If I could repurpose the swipe right feature to something else that would be appreciated.
Le Chef Posted May 29, 2024 Share #7 Posted May 29, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have “EVF Extended” and don’t have this swipe problem with the LCD.

LACANYONHIKER Posted June 24, 2024 Share #9 Posted June 24, 2024 Go into the Focusing settings and turn off Touch AF, then turn off Touch AF in EVF. Then keep your camera and EVF extended mode, that will solve your problem. However, even if Touch AF is turned off, if you are an auto mode, the swipe left gesture will put the camera back into video mode. It would be nice if that were a separate option to turn off, but it’s not.

luetz Posted June 24, 2024 Share #11 Posted June 24, 2024 The future Q4S(for stills only) will solve that annoyance. 1

"4" is an unlucky number so I'll have to skip that one. 😅 Come on, Leica, can we please disable the swipe on the Q3? Maybe if Leica’s engineers weren’t spending all their time swiping through dating apps, we wouldn’t be stuck with a Q3 that thinks it's directing an indie film every time you brush the screen! 🤯
