ergonomics to switch mode PHOTO to mode VIDEO

I purchased a Leica Q3 which I am satisfied with.  But I have a recurring problem during use where I regularly switch from photo mode to video mode.  How to avoid this inconvenience.

I have the same problem. I just had to teach myself to avoid use of the touch screen  — except for the other irritation: having to reset the spot focus to the centre... 😀

This inadvertent switch to video happens to me sometimes. You can swipe to the right to switch to video and it's all too easy to do that by accident.

I wish this could be disabled. I have little to zero interest in Video, and for the times I would like to try it, I'd be happy to jump into the menus. If I could repurpose the swipe right feature to something else that would be appreciated.

I have “EVF Extended” and don’t have this swipe problem with the LCD.

I agree. I just made a feature request to Leica via the FOTOS app. Let's see, fingers crossed.

Go into the Focusing settings and turn off Touch AF, then turn off Touch AF in EVF.  Then keep your camera and EVF extended mode, that will solve your problem. 
However, even if Touch AF is turned off, if you are an auto mode, the swipe left gesture will put the camera back into video mode. It would be nice if that were a separate option to turn off, but it’s not.

Come on, Leica, can we please disable the swipe on the Q3?

Maybe if Leica’s engineers weren’t spending all their time swiping through dating apps, we wouldn’t be stuck with a Q3 that thinks it's directing an indie film every time you brush the screen! 🤯
