eos3d Posted December 3, 2007 Share #1  Posted December 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello,  I bought an R-lens adapter for my Lumix L1 and I would like to buy some Leica lenses. However, I have heard there are different types of R lenses with 1 or several CAM. What does that mean please and can they all fit on my adapter? I am mostly interested in the Summicron 50mmF/2.  Thanks for your help  Young.

johnwolf Posted December 3, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted December 3, 2007 Young, I've been wondering the same myself and doing some web research. Here's one link, but Google will turn up others. -- John

rougewave Posted December 3, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted December 3, 2007 Young & John, Karen's article is a good start. In my opinion, almost any R lens will "work" with your D3. You get to use great lenses, but with no auto focus and with the focal length doubled. A 50mm lens in now a 100mm lens, with plenty of DOF. The image is great, but cropped. There are several very usefull threads on the forum re: R lenses & the Digilux 3 (D3). It pays to use the search feature to view them.
rsolomon Posted December 5, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted December 5, 2007 I beleive any lens will fit irrespective of whether the lens is equipped with control CAMS or the electorical ROM contacts. i have placed various R lenses on my Digilux 3, some 3 cam some ROM.....no issues and performing as documented (no tranfering of any lens data to the D3)
rougewave Posted December 5, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted December 5, 2007 Check out Peter Bergentz's excellant post: "Digilux 3 and R lenses in practise and some technical issues" in the Digital Forum. None better.
lmr Posted December 5, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted December 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Young: Â If you want R lens, yes, most lens, any CAM, would fit your adapter for your D-3/L1. Some do works better than others, 1.4 lens has some issues with metering, but in most cases shooting @5.6 should be ok. There are some hit and miss factor here ans since it is digital, you can always fiddle around until you can get it right. Â You might want to look at getting the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 for the D-3/L1. Mine stays on the camera 95% of the time.
