JamieDumont Posted May 10, 2024 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone recognise the pattern of this light leak on my M2. Only this roll is effected — but it is the most recent I've had developed. The roll before shows zero leaks. Most of this roll has the line a quarter of the way through to a lesser or greater degree. Film was Cinestill 800T and I didn't load or unload it in a dim environment. Other factor at play is that my M2 suffered a jammed shutter approx. 18 months ago. Hasn't caused an issue since, after pinching it and helping it return (advice from Leica specialist). Only thought is that this line is approximately where the shutter curtain comes to when being advanced from memory (currently film in camera so can't check). Another line of enquiry is that the pattern on the lower right hand side of the first image looks unlike anything in the environment. Almost looks like a reflection from an overhead fluorescent light like you get in an office? Possible cock up during processing at the lab? Either way, I'll hurry through my current roll and see what I get. It happens to be another 800T. TomB_tx Posted May 10, 2024 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2024 Doesn't look like any shutter fault I've seen.
JamieDumont Posted May 10, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted May 10, 2024 That's encouraging, thank you. Always love playing the "what happened here?" game when a roll doesn't work out!

Always love playing the "what happened here?" game when a roll doesn't work out! Yeah, waiting for color film development is part of the allure - but prompt feedback is helpful for problems. When I check out a camera I haven't used for a while I bulk-load a short roll of B&W, process and scan to check the camera function (exposure, shutter, & focus), then load color if that's what I want to shoot. I rarely go long without using the camera. In this case I shot a roll of Tri-X and then the Cinestill over about 30 minutes. Had no reason to think anything was wrong until I got this roll back. Thankfully I did this job on both film and digital.
