I am currently trying a few lenses on my SL2s, a used sigma 50mm contemporary against the leica 50mm summicron-SL asph, and a lumix 28-200mm. I feel like each time I have the Sigma mounted and press the shutter, the camera is slower (longer blackout between shots, and the sound even seems a bit different, a bit delayed), while the Leica and Lumix lenses are much snappier. I am unsure if it's my imagination or my mind trying to convince me to stick with the Summicron-SL. Has anyone noticed anything like this, or could it be an indication of an issue with the Sigma lens?

Also wanted to add that I have tested my Sigma 100-400 and it feels just like the Leica and Lumix lenses.

Thanks for any input.

When I had the Sigma 50mm I personally found that the focus was both faster and quieter than the 50 Summicron APO I eventually replaced it with (I can't say I was TOTALLY surprised, but it did kind of sour the 50 APO for me a little).

I only can compare Panasonic lenses versus Sigma lenses.
But e.g. my Sigma lenses 50mm/1.4 DG DN | Art and 35mm/2.0 DG DN | Contemporary  are fast - without delay.

And yes if you bring your ear at the lenses and listening - check by AF test.
The sound of Sigma lenses, do have a different sound in comparison to Lumix lenses.
But can be different to for one Sigma lens comparing with the other Sigma lens.

The more small Sigma 35mm/2.0 lens, a tiny bit more strong sound, than e.g. Sigma 50mm/1.4
And also in comparison to the plastic housing of a Lumix 85mm/1.8 lens.
As for AF fastness, I think the Sigma 50mm/1.4 even is just more fast then 35mm/2.0

Keep in mind that every lens can have a different experience.
Different brands, metal versus plastic housing. Different used internal AF motors.
Specially when having a more small metal housing (as of 35mm/2.0).
I can imagine that the vibration of sound, is more easily brought to the outside.
