I came across this in a video.  Is this a filter ?

It splits the film/sensor into two 1/2 frame images spaced approximately the same distance apart as your eyeball pupils to produce stereoscopic photographs. They have been around quite a long time. I remember using similar camera accessories in the 1950s to produce stereo slides.

The spacing of the twin lenses is 18.2mm, which gives good effect from 1 to 3 meters. Beyond 3 meters, the large black prism is attached which widens the interaxial spacing to 72mm, framing is consistant over both distances.  Glass slides were recommended for projection with a twin lens on the projector, such as the IMPUU, below, or a hand held viewer, OHTEO.
