I agree, it has, Philip.

Weirdly, during my previous visit (before the pandemic) I noticed a headstone which bore the deceased date 2 months after the date that I was there.  I still don't know if it was a typo ('engravo'?) or a sinister message to someone. :o

Pete.

By chance I've found the pictures I took of Hediya Cowan's grave in Brookwood Cemetery which has the Date of Death after I photographed the grave.  It's not clear whether it's some obscure political statement (even meta-searching the internet found nothing like that) or something stranger.  The formica "headstone" is unusual too but you can see from the pictures that it's a full-sized grave and not one for a pet.

I took the picture on 19/04/2017, as corroborated by the EXIF data so "D.O.D" of 17/07/2017 'is a bit previous' as a Londoner might say.^_^  Any explanations are gratefully received and I am prepared to feel very foolish if I've missed something obvious. 🤔:D

A confused Pete.

A wild speculation, since it looks like a very recent grave that still needs to be finished by putting a proper monument on it: maybe the engraving on the formica plate is wrong and should have been 17/4/2017. Do you have the possibility to go back there and see if there's a "proper" monument or headstone now with a different d.o.d.?

The flesh is willing but the spirit is weak.

Thank you for your reply, Pegelli.  I'm probably 'due' another visit to Brookwood and when I do I'll see if I can find it again.  As for a possible typo, that occurred to me too but I have trouble imagining that one of the engraver, the cemetery manager, and whoever put the temporary headstone up etc wouldn't have noticed.

Anyway I'll stop now to avoid distracting the thread any further. 🙂

Pete.

Whereas where I come from, cemeteries are rather dull, here you can find great statues on many grave. My first images here where done with an old SL66, great for low perspective images. I still have some fine prints in my house from those angels.

Later on I tried some long exposure with the GFX on a tripod, but results where to “kitsch”.

Yesterday I went to the local village graveyard with the Q43. It’s flip screen is perfect to me for low angle shooting.
