tom0511 Posted April 29, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted April 29, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) My 24 underexposes on my S3 by over 2 stops. it doesn't on my S007 and all my other lenses don't underexpose on my S3. Has anybody experienced something similar or any idea what I can do except sending either the lens or the camera or both in to service? Advertisement Posted April 29, 2024 Posted April 29, 2024 Hi tom0511, Take a look here 24mm underexposure problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mgrayson3 Posted April 29, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted April 29, 2024 Look into the lens as you press the shutter and make sure the aperture is moving to the correct diameter. (Not at all wide open, quite small at f/16, etc.) Does it underexpose at all f/stops? I could imagine that the camera thinks it's wide open, somehow.

Eclectic Man Posted April 29, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted April 29, 2024 You could also check the electrical contacts on the lens to make sure they make a good connection to the camera.
John McMaster Posted April 29, 2024 Share #5  Posted April 29, 2024 Different metering mode? I never got on with the S2 centre weighting, it was very different to the M9/M240, and have only used spot for many years... john
LeicaR10 Posted April 30, 2024 Share #6 Â Posted April 30, 2024 Tom0511, Â I agree with Eclectic Man's post #4. Â I would also suggest you clean the lens contacts and even camera contacts. Â Worst case, the 24 might need a vacation to the Wetzlar mothership for a check up. The S 24 as you know is a superb lens. Â BTW, I only had this type issue with S 70 once. Â The lens needed warranty servicing at Wetzlar back in 2010 for a faulty electronic aperture. Â r/ Mark
tom0511 Posted April 30, 2024 Author Share #7 Â Posted April 30, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Cleaned contacts, checked f-stop (it is closing). Weird thing: in life view at 3.5 it also underexposes. In life view f4.0-closed down it exposes correct. I SLR mode it underexposes at all f-stops. I am afraid I have to send it in. Eclectic Man Posted April 30, 2024 Share #8 Â Posted April 30, 2024 @tom0511 Sadly there is no 'commiserations' tag, but I hope you get it back soon.
