Leicaboy Norway Posted November 17 Share #148 Posted November 17 Am I the only one who doesnt like this rendering? Who thinks these photos are just decent? An 85 1.4 is a luxury lens, but I don't know. I actually own it, and think it's time to let it go.
PhotoCruiser Posted November 17 Share #149 Posted November 17 Asking what others think about a lens is not very useful as it's a matter of personal taste so the answers will not convince you to keep or sell. When you are unhappy with a lens then just let her go and replace with one what pleases you and/or your clients. The Sigma ART series are all very good to excellent lenses but some consider them as too clinical, but again thats personal taste. I prefer to have a too clinical lens and if needed add a bit of distortion later than have a distorted photo unable/difficult to recover, but thats me. Chris At first I thought why is this guy so rational if he lives on an island in the mediterranean, then I saw you were originally German / Swiss and now it makes sense! Lol! Just kidding! You are totally right, I think I let my self be fooled by all the positive reviews online for the lens, but as you say I think it's time to just admit to myself this is not my cup of tea and let it go. Thanks for the insights!
Olaf_ZG Posted November 18 Share #151 Posted November 18 I also didn’t like the lens. I bought it for portraits but really quickly sold it, and rarely used it for portraits. The seascapes above were the only other thing I used it for…
colonel Posted November 18 Share #152 Posted November 18 The only requirement I have for a lens is to be critically sharp. Everything else can be done in post, but detail can never be recovered if it is not there. Many modern Sigma lenses are fantastic pairs for the 60mp sensor.
