The failure of the M11 is quite a bummer, but at least you could find a solution to keep taking pictures. I hope the Leica tech find out what happened. There must be quite a lot of M11 in Japan and we do not hear about these failing due to humidity when the Summer comes, so there must be something strange going on.

Yes, I don't think it's a typical behavior for M11, but I've seen several people report these issues and link them to humidity, so I might have gotten a lemon when I bought my camera. It was already once in Leica service two years ago because of humidity issues but that time it was affecting just the lens sensor. 

Still a great device, and shooting with Sony for several days made me appreciate it even more. Not that Sony makes bad cameras (I have several and they're great), but shooting with a Sony feels like work, while using a Leica is pure bliss.

I also thank you for sharing the very nice images and experience.  The Arashiyama boating looks so fun.  I’ve been to the location but only in early morning before the boats got started.

Thank you! It started working fine about a week after we came back from Japan. No idea what to make of it, but had no more issues so far
