I just read that a new Leitz Phone 3 is being introduced this month. It greatly interested me, however it's going to be available exclusively in Japan. Does anyone here know the rationale for this?

and its specs are quite nice, the leica "lens-simulation" looks are very good

Does this confirm the rumors that Leica is abandoning the Ms and SLs and devoting all research to phones?

I believe it does. The Ms and SLs will no longer be available in Japan. 😉

The Leitz Phone 3 is exclusive to Japan likely due to a strategic partnership with SoftBank, a major telecom provider in the country
