Looks like the big metal slide buckle on the Peak Design could do some scratching when going in and out of a camera bag.

The large Peak Design Leach is an excellent piece of gear for those who carry a camera on a hike with a heavy zoom or telephoto lens attached. The buckle is there for a reason and is highly practical. Also, it works best with the bottom plate adaptor. Otherwise, it’s an overkill.

I dislike the dangling Peak Design attachment “pills” very much. Ugly and annoying without a strap attached. That's why I prefer regular old-fashioned camera straps for my Ms and the SL with an M lens attached.

For M the Leica thin straps are my favorite, I have them in 5 colors and they can match the outfit.

But I have many others all with the same small attachment that does not wear the camera.

Peak Design all the way for me too. People avoid them because they are not showy, but they are the most functional on the market.

After reading reviews, I decided to experiment with the PGYTech 1.8 inch strap to replace my PD strap.  It has a nicer, wider shoulder pad than the PD Leash or Slide Lite, but tapers at the ends, unlike the wider PD Slide, to ease handling and storage.  I’ve liked most everything about the PD straps, except the lack of shoulder/neck support after carrying for a while. The PGYT uses similar anchor attachments, and even includes a small base plate like the PD to accommodate my preferred attachment method with the big SL 24-90. The plate also allows the camera to sit with more stability than the PD plate. The length is also easily adjustable like the PD.

Still early stages of ownership, but so far so good. The build quality seems robust.  And reasonably priced at $46.

Update to my original post.  I have stuck with the OEM strap and it's great.  It's soft, sticks to my shoulder and is comfortable to carry for a long time even with 100-400 or 24-90 on the camera.  24-90 was unnoticeable to me weight wise on long hikes on recent vacation.  I did however, even though I swore I wouldn't, add the Peak Design quick attachment to the OEM strap and body.  The reason was the Sigma 150-600.  I did not want to carry that combo with the strap attached to the body.  I added the PD system and would just pop off the strap on the body and used the Sigma strap that came with the lens.  At first I put the PD anchors on the lens too but did not like the way that combo carried but can't remember the specific reason why.  It may have been that the strap was hard to detach from the lens as the PD anchors aren't long enough to fit around the thick strap lugs on the lens.  I don't think the OEM strap is going to last very long, it is already getting some loose threads but that's fine I think it's easy to order.

Very grateful to Jeff S for the reference to PGYTech. The strap is indeed a great solution for the SL2. And I liked the fastening and adjustments systems so much that I got their "Air" strap for my CL.
