Advertisement Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Hi eos3d, Take a look here Leica R 135/2.8 quality ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carstenw Posted November 30, 2007 Share #2  Posted November 30, 2007 I bought one a couple of years ago for €269, and it was a really great lens. Not as sharp as the Apo lenses, but very very good, and with really nice bo-ke.
stunsworth Posted November 30, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted November 30, 2007 It's essentially the same design as the M lens that people have been raving about in the M8 forum.I've never used one, but they seem to be a bargain - as do many R lenses at the moment. eos3d Posted November 30, 2007 Author Share #4 Â Posted November 30, 2007 Thanks for your replies guys. I think I will get one and try it.
Guest liesevolvo Posted November 30, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted November 30, 2007 Heavy lens, but very good! I use it on SL and SL2. In my opinion the most 'under-priced' Leica-lens at the moment. Â Nearly every Leica-R-lens without 'APO' in it's name is a bargain now. Â Leonard Liese, Cologne/Germany
telyt Posted December 1, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted December 1, 2007 I found the optical quality quite good - not APO-quality, but very good - and the bokeh was very pleasing but the weight and long-ish minimum focus distance were problems for me. Â Mine was the early (German) version.

tobey bilek Posted December 1, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted December 1, 2007 I don`t think you will be disappointed. I have the M and R versions and currently use the M head+short focus mount on a Nikon D200.
FrankA Posted December 1, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted December 1, 2007 Tobey, Can you explain the m lens on a nikon? Did not know that was possible. Thanks, Frank
spydrxx Posted December 1, 2007 Share #13 Â Posted December 1, 2007 Frank - there are certain M lenses which have removable heads, designed for alternate use with a Visoflex. These lens heads, in conjunction with a focusing mechanism, and a Visoflex-to-Nikon F mount allow use on Nikons (DSLR or SLR) . I've been using some of them for about 5 years and really enjoy using them - have to use manual mode or aperture priority, depending on Nikon model. S. Wong Posted December 2, 2007 Share #15 Â Posted December 2, 2007 This was my first 135, a German variant, and I've only used Leica Reflexes. While it remains my favorite, my photographic style has changed, so it doesn't get as much use now as it once did. Â I highly recommend it, but would search the photo forum for examples of it in use -Steven
fernando_b Posted December 12, 2007 Share #16  Posted December 12, 2007 I noticed today this post, if you already did the choice no matters. I agree with the comment of Doug Herr. I have the 135 and seend the cost of used samples I can assure you it is deserves a much higher price! Much time ago Pascal Meheut did very kindly this comparison for me: the image are of newspaper text. First line is 135 elmarit at 2.8, second line is same lens at 5.6, third line is 180 APO elmarit (clear what is the reference? It is a optically perfect lens!) at 5.6. Real pixels enlarged four times. Fernando. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
