Hello to all,

I am new to this forum and I would like to ask you guys something : I bought a Lumix L1 with an R lens adapter and I would like to know if the quality of the Leica R 135/2.8 is really good. I can find one for very cheap at my local dealer.

Thanks for your help. Pics made with this lens are welcome :)

Heavy lens, but very good! I use it on SL and SL2. In my opinion the most 'under-priced' Leica-lens at the moment.

Nearly every Leica-R-lens without 'APO' in it's name is a bargain now.

I found the optical quality quite good - not APO-quality, but very good - and the bokeh was very pleasing but the weight and long-ish minimum focus distance were problems for me.

Mine was the early (German) version.

Frank - there are certain M lenses which have removable heads, designed for alternate use with a Visoflex. These lens heads, in conjunction with a focusing mechanism, and a Visoflex-to-Nikon F mount allow use on Nikons (DSLR or SLR) . I've been using some of them for about 5 years and really enjoy using them - have to use manual mode or aperture priority, depending on Nikon model.

This was my first 135, a German variant, and I've only used Leica Reflexes.

While it remains my favorite, my photographic style has changed, so it doesn't get as much use now as it once did.

I highly recommend it, but would search the photo forum for examples of it in use

I noticed today this post, if you already did the choice no matters.

I agree with the comment of Doug Herr. I have the 135 and seend the cost of used samples I can assure you it is deserves a much higher price!

Much time ago Pascal Meheut did very kindly this comparison for me: the image are of newspaper text. First line is 135 elmarit at 2.8, second line is same lens at 5.6, third line is 180 APO elmarit (clear what is the reference? It is a optically perfect lens!) at 5.6.

Real pixels enlarged four times.

Fernando.
