Hello everyone, I have been a pretty long time lurker in these forums & when finally Leica launched the new SL3, I decided to make the jump into the L mount  system and purchase the SL3.

Hate that my 1st post would be about SL3 issue but on my first outing with the SL3, the Leica Fotos app is always having problems loading some files from either the CF express card or the SD card, in the Leica Fotos app, and if I disconnect the app from the camera, the camera would always lock up, forcing me to pull out the battery to return things to normal again.

I am not sure if this is a firmware or early copy issue but I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same?

My storage management setting is set at DNG on CF express & JPEG on SD card as backup.

No lock up issues so far if only 1 of the cards are inserted in the camera.

I use Lexar Silver series CF Express & Sandisk Extreme SD card.

I have tried uploading a video to showcase the issues & yo can view it here:

Welcome! And sorry to hear about your problem.

I am afraid I can’t help you (my SL3 works fine), but I would try other card(s) to exclude any potential card issues. Also ensure that tou have the latest version of Fotos. (And format the card in the body before use, but I assume this is done).

Hopefully others can provide more help. If still problems, pass a report to Leica via Fotos.

Hello, thanks for the input. I have tried re-formatting both cards and so far that does the trick (the SD card contains old Leica CL files & some SL2S files from a camera I have borrowed from a friend). I have only done some random shots after reformatting so hopefully this solves the issue long term.

Lesson learned: always format cards, even if they contain files from the same camera brand.

That is indeed essential.
