28mm Elmarit-M IV, focus stuck

Hi all,

anybody experienced with fixing Leica lenses?

My oh-so-loved 28mm Elmarit-M IV got hit, and now the focus is completely stuck. At first it got stiff, but now it is completely stuck between 2-3 meters.

Is there a disassembly guide or service manual available or should I just send it back to Leica for repair?
I definitely don't want to lose this lens, since everything else works flawlessly and it's quite free from dust..

If it was hit hard enough to jam the focus helicoid it could have started other issues, such as element separation or alignment. I'd send it in for proper service.

well, since I have a little bit of DIY I started to disassemble optics.

Mount comes off fine, also helicoid could be removed easily. If I'm right, lens attachment should detach just by turning, but that is stuck.

Also, removing mount and helicoid didn't do any good, focus is still stuck. Dammit.

well, it takes about 600 euros to get this lens fixed. It's still cheaper that trying to find & buy "new used" lens.

But FYI, current time estimate for fix is 7 months + postage which seems quite long time.

Surely you can find a Leica technician in Helsinki who can expedite a repair sooner?

Not necessarily. The local distributor (Foka) has one Leica technician, but I think he mostly does CLAs and similar. There is apparently only one independent technician left in the Helsinki area, https://www.mechser.com/, but I have no experience of him. And I have seen someone mention this Kameraseppo in Viiala (near Tampere) doing repairs for http://kamerastore.com (used gear store).
