Bob R Posted March 27, 2024 Share #1  Posted March 27, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the 75mm Noctilux and have experienced two broken UV filters. The filters were the B&W XS-Pro Digital 010 MRC nano. The filters were on the lens and were found broken when the lens was taken out of the Lowepro case. I also have the 90mm f/1.5 and 50mm f/.95 lense with similar filters but have never had a problem. I am suspecting now that the unique lens cap on the 75mm is causing the problem. Has anyone else had a similar issue?  Is there another UV filter with a thicker ring than would be better or do I just need to store the lens without a filter installed.
Advertisement Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 Hi Bob R, Take a look here 75mm Noctilux broken filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 27, 2024 Share #2  Posted March 27, 2024 UV filters are basically not designed for protection but, umm, to filter UV. Get a decent protective filter B+W 007 or Heliopan Protective. Those are considerably stronger  but thinner glass  and will produce fewer aberrations. If you manage to  break filters I would not advise you to go without.
