Q3 AUTOFOCUS AND MAUAL FOCUS NOT WORKING?

Hi.  Just joined the forum.  Was gifted my first Leica at Christmas 2023 (Q3).   Neither the autofocus or the manual focus will now work.  I cannot get the green square showing focus is set.  Have tried resetting the camera few times but no change.  Anyone had this issue, or have suggestions how to fix - other than returning it to Leica?  Many thanks.

Did it ever work?  Is it locked at the AF lens setting?

What happens in AF when you half press the shutter button?

Do you perhaps have MACRO engaged?

Or maybe part way between?

First check: is the focus ring set to AF/Auto?

Second check, as per SiriusOne: is Macro mode engaged?

I'm going for macro mode being the culprit.  I fell foul of that when I took a macro shot and when I went to take anther non-macro picture the camera wouldn't focus on anything.  Stupid me left it in macro mode 🙄

I agree. But the syndrome is remarkably common: often first and last posting...

It also bothers me that the automatic assumption is that there’s something wrong with the camera rather than “Could this be user error? Did I miss something in the instruction book?”

It is often the case that such people post the query on one forum, wait five minutes and, if the answer they seek is not immediately forthcoming, go to another forum and repeat the process. Usually they are never seen again. A sad comment on the times we live in.

1000 apologies to all who have offered help and advice.   I confess I find these forums a tad complex:-(   Thank you each for your offer of help.   Simply new to Leica and not noticing Macro engaged.  Totally threw me.   Am I just dumb, naive or playing with toys way too advanced for my skill set????

PS Another question for this simpleton - can anyone please give me the simple steps to post photos on the Q3 forum.   Not jumping out at me😎

Go to the Q3 images thread and at the top of that is an instruction from @Jaap for how to do this.
