I previously owned a Leica Q2 and unfortunately, the electronic viewfinder (EVF) got scratched accidentally within the first month of use. I had to get it replaced. However, when I got my new Leica Q3, it already came with an LCD protector which is a good feature. Additionally, I also got an EVF protector for my Q3 to prevent any future accidental damages.

I hope Leica will include the EVF Protector for Q users.

The Leica shop gave me a free LCD protector, which they installed on the spot when I purchased the camera.

N'ayant jamais réalisé cela (derniers mots célèbres ?), je suis curieux de savoir comment les utilisateurs parviennent à gratter le verre d'un EVF.

Having never achieved this (famous last words?), I am curious to know how users manage to scratch the glass of an EVF.

David

Few years ago I scratched my EOS R EVF from my steel button off my shirt while strapping it around my neck. Since then I strapped it sideways if I am wearing buttoned shirt.

I tried some generic "plastic sheet" EVF protector for Q3, but it has multiple drawbacks, among them:

  • LCD --> EVF --> LCD switching often fails
  • reflection of the sides can be seen when putting my eye to the EVF, super distracting

I think someone should make a anti-reflective glass-type EVF protector for the Q3, is there?

My EVF got scratched a bit from being against my shirt, possibly plastic buttons. The EVF material is obviously not particularly robust. I tried one of these stick on protectors exactly as shown in the OP post, but it stopped 'EVF Extended' working. I removed the plastic and EVF extended works again. Need to be careful with the EVF.

The Q2 EVF has some plastic composite material, the Q3 EVF is glass. The Q2 would scratch from just breathing on it. No such issue on the Q3.

Q3 EVF also has a plastic lens according to Leica‘s CS. I wrote them specifically to inquire that shortly after market introduction.

Bought a protector for my Q2‘s EVF on Amazon, which works perfectly.
