Hello, My first post here. Nice to meet you all.

I'm reviewing some cameras I have had in my life for a very long time and one of them is this Leica presented here. The camera belonged to my wife's Grandfather and she was keen enough to grab the camera after his passing around 1975 - saving it from a Garage Sale no doubt.

I think this is a 1936 Leica III Model F - Black body  - What say you?

Some items stand out that I cannot find information on.

1, There are two small posts on the front of the camera body to the left of the lens (looking at the front). They look to be some "connection" of sorts. The case pictured here has an opening for these posts as well. What are these for? Common? I have yet to see another.

2. The lens. A Leitz Hektor 1:2.5 F=50mm - I cannot find much information on this lens. Hoping someone can shed some information my way. Lens is smugged in the photos but I see no serious scratches or abrasions.

I ran a roll of B&W through it about 15 or 20 years ago. Actually got some good images.  Yes, she needs a good cleaning and I am 100% sure she could benefit from a good CLA as well.

Let me know what you think about this camera. Thanks again.

Devices developed by Leitz allowed the use of flash for leicas II, III and C. See the article below.
Now, many synchro-flash devices have been rigged on cameras by private workshops which sometimes gives a position of the latter a little anarchic. They could be positioned like yours under the slow speed dial, on the hood, behind the occular sights and sometimes on the left side laterally.
