I just bought a Leica Q3 yesterday and was using a SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC card up to 300 MB/s UHS-II Class 10 U3 V90. It was working fine when I was taking photos and 4K videos. However once I switched to 8K video, it stopped working and displayed “SD-Card Error”. I tried to reformat it in the camera but it would not let me. I can’t go into the menus or the live view when the SD card is inserted, it will just show the error screen. I tried to plug it into my MacBook but it could not even read it. Did my Leica just break my SD card? If so how do I fix it? Or how do I stop it from happening again?

It is rather unlikely that the card was corrupted by the camera, but cards can and do break down, albeit rarely. . The best thing to do is to contact SanDisk and claim guarantee.
Prevention of card errors: Never use a card from another camera without formatting, preferably  by SD Formatter in your computer.

agree with jaap. also contact Leica at customer.care@leica-camera.com and let them advise you on what to do next.

it's unlikely someone will revive your SD card trough the forum or be able to give any insights on how or why your card failed. my own speculation would be heat. but it's just that, speculation.

Well I strongly suspect that Leica can only say: mount a freshly formatted card and carry on.
If looking for advice my dealer where I bought camera and card would be the first stop.
