Hello

Hoping someone may have some clue about this. Have and MP, about 18 months old. I've put a fair number of rolls through it at this point, maybe 50 ish. The last two rolls around frame 25 I click the shutter, wind on and it feels like it winds on 95% of the way, then I can't wind any further or click the shutter. It's stuck somehow. The rewind release releases the rewind lever, it then winds on a tiny bit more, but the shutter won't click any more. Have to just remove the entire film..

Any ideas?

OK, in my defence I was up a lot of the night with a very young baby.

😳🤭

But yes you are right they are 24 frame films. That's a relief and an embarrassment. I remember now i was gifted a few 24s at Christmas, I always buy 36s myself so am just so used to that number.

Perhaps something is not quite right with the take-up spool causing a lump or asymmetry as the film winds on.  At around 24 exposures the film binds in the compartment and prevents you from winding on.  I would check the spool.

At least you did not force it and tear the film out of the canister. I did that once, trying to get one more shot out of a roll of film.

Been there seen it done it, and only recently after about 45 years of photography where it's never happened before. I was walking back to the car cursing my camera before I wondered 'did I go for the cheapest price for a brick of FP4 without realising it was 24 exposure'. Sure enough rewinding the film answered the question.

Sonetimes you just can't wind the film the last tiny bit far enough for the last frame.

But don't try to overcome it!

No problem. Be glad it's not the camera!
