Hello friends,

I'm about to upgrade my computer from an older Power Mac G5 (1.6 mhz) running OS 10.4.11 to a new Intel, double-core Mac running Leopard. Lightroom runs okay presently, albeit very sluggishly. Do you know if my version (1.3) will run well with the new processor, or will I need some sort of update from Adobe?

Thank you for your help.

It should run fine and will definitely be faster. I've been running Lightroom on both a desktop intel Mac and MacBook. I have version 1.2 on the desktop and 1.3 on the laptop. No complaints about speed on the desktop. And it's only because my desktop is so fast that I notice LR is a bit slower on the Macbook. Version 1.3 is the most up to date and was upgraded to work with Leopard. Since I'm not running Leopard yet I can't address that part of it but you are current.

The only thing to worry about is printer drivers. I am no longer able to print to my Epson 4000 through LR as Epson has not updated their drivers. I use Imageprint most of the time with the 4000 so not a big problem for me and the new 7880 works fine. One thing I do though is turn Time Machine off whenever I work in LR or Apperture.

Watch out for the printer drivers, I can't print with my Mac Pro, Canon ipf5000 with LR 1.3 and leopard. However you can print via a plugin in CS3, it will work... but funky.

LR runs noticeably faster on the newer processors but a fast HD helps and having enough memory is what really makes a difference.

FWIW

LR 1.3 works, as far as I've experienced, fine with Leopard

I couldn't get the Leopard 'built in' driver for Epson 2200 to work properly so I installed the latest one I found on Epsons' website (which I think is actually older). Printing now works fine as before.
