nonoirie Posted February 27, 2024 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there an method on M10P where I could set to specific shutter speed other than what's listed on the dial? For example, I would like to set my SS to 1/200 but closet setting on the dial is 1/185 and jumps up to 1/250. Thanks for your help in advance. Advertisement Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Hi nonoirie, Take a look here M10-P: Shutter Speed. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mujk Posted February 28, 2024 Share #2 Posted February 28, 2024 No, I don't think that is possible. The manual states that the shutter speed dial may only be set to a "click" position.
charlesphoto99 Posted February 28, 2024 Share #3 Posted February 28, 2024 Nope, it's a mechanical shutter with set speeds.

The mechanical film M’s can be set to intermediate speeds, but you couldn’t really specify exactly 1/200th. A possibility is to shoot in ‘A’ and adjust the ambient light to get an ‘in between’ value. Please correct me if this is incorrect, but I’ve always understood shutter speeds in ‘A’ are infinitely variable and do not click up and down on the specific manual speeds - despite what EXIF data says. You might be able to get close to 1/200th that way, but not specify it exactly…
otto.f Posted February 29, 2024 Share #5 Posted February 29, 2024 (edited) You will have to use the aperture to be more precise than half a stop, the apertures climb also click in at halves but with a bit of good will you can use thirds. Although I sometimes see 24, 25, 30, 45, 50 and 60 times on my M10-R, but that’s only there, not higher in the range of speeds. Yes, it is a mechanical shutter but it is electronically controlled. The shutter speed dial is just an electric selector switch. And I think the longest speeds are set by camera software. I actually tried to check if the A mode would offer more shutter speed alternatives than selectable with the the dial, but except for exposure times longer than 8s this does not seem to be the case. I could also see the 1/25 and 1/50 speeds mentioned by @otto.f, but only in the OVF LED display, not on the LCD or in EXIF information.
