Leica wants to replace my shutter

I appreciate all of the comments. I did ultimately pay for the shutter replacement. It cost around $700. I got the camera back a few days ago. 

With the exception of an odd crease on the leatherette on the left side of the camera (the side under the rangefinder windows), it seems to be working just fine. I'm actually curious if the leatherette originally had a very slight crease/bump on that side. But I don't remember.

I own an M-E Typ 240 (first owner) and I experienced the same black frame issue on a regular basis. I also bought a used Monochrom Typ 246 (from a shop with 6 moths warranty) that just had been in for service at Leica. I experienced the same exact issue with that body. However there is a remedy to the problem. I read somewhere that "chimping" your images sort of initiates a "timer" that will eventually cause the black frame, as strange as it may sound. So, when I stopped my chimping behaviour the problem was gone. Also, if you turn the camera off and on again, the "timer" is reset. I no longer have black frames on either of the cameras unless I chimp. So, my take on it is that this is an inherent issue with Typ 240 and Typ 246 – a software bug or that some electronic part that builds up a "charge" initiated by viewing the photos on the screen and ultimately causes the shutter to behave erratically and cause a black frame.

If that is what is causing the issue then I think we are out of the updated firmware window with the age of the camera.
