williamj Posted February 14, 2024 Share #21 Â Posted February 14, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Your main question to answer is what finish will the M6 have, silver chrome, black chrome or something more exotic, and whether you mean a used M6 or an M6-2022.
Advertisement Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Hi williamj, Take a look here Does it make sense to have both M4-P and M6?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!

You’re right. It seems more versions of M6 have been made than any other M.
AndreasG Posted February 16, 2024 Share #23  Posted February 16, 2024 I keep two M6 bodies together with a M4-P, when I go out with film, I usually carry two cameras with me - M4-P with the 50mm Summicron and the M6 with a wide angle lens, either 28 or 21mm. The second M6 body is a spare, occasionally in use by my elder daughter with a 35mm lens. The M6 is certainly more comfortable with the built in meter, but I also enjoy the old fashioned style of the M4-P with the MR meter. I need to admit however that today I prefer my digital M10-D. Rollei35 Posted February 16, 2024 Share #24 Â Posted February 16, 2024 Since when did Leica owners make any sense? A film camera is basically jus a light box. With less than 1/10 of the money you pay for a Leica you can buy a much nicer one. So don't talk "sense" to me. We, proud Leica owners, do not have common sense. Just buy, buy, buy.. 3

TomB_tx Posted February 17, 2024 Share #26 Â Posted February 17, 2024 When I used both M4 & M6 I usually had color slide film in the M6, and B&W in the M4, where precise metering wasn't such an issue.

Favourite is the M4-P for some reason. Rather the same with me: I like using my classic M4 and my M4-P more than the metered bodies I have, even though most of my shooting over the years that I first had Leica was with an M6, then with an M6TTL.  Part of it for me is enjoying having to use gradually developed exposure intuition to complete the 'obedient camera'  shooting experience — helped if needed by a modern Sekonic incident meter. Also it may have something to do with the red dot being hidden by my hands (M4-P) and not there anyway (M4) when the camera is in use...  I've even had someone tell me admiringly that they like my Fujifilm X-Pro! (Actually a damn good camera too, so taken in very good humour.) Or perhaps it's just something to do with its being one less thing to go wrong?

I’m intrigued to use both. Anyone here own both? Does one get more use than the other? nice start, but you need a M2, M4, M7, M-A and MP to make a final decision

I’ll use it with the 35mm and 21mm lenses I have, and the M4-P with the 50mm. I think this combo matches my use.
