Torpille Posted February 9, 2024 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm looking for a 50mm for my SL 601. I had the Panasonic 50mm f/1.8 which didn't completely convince me. I don't want to take an 50Apo which is too heavy and bulky Does anyone have experience with the sigma Iserie 50mm f/2 dg dn? I'm hesitating between the Leica sl 50 ASPH or the sigma Isérie 50mm f/2 dg dn. I think the sl50 ASPH renders similarly to the Panasonic. Will the Sigma work perfectly with the sl601? Thank you for your feedback. Edited February 9, 2024 by Torpille
Advertisement Posted February 9, 2024 Posted February 9, 2024 Hi Torpille, Take a look here Leica summicron-sl 50mm Asph or Sigma iserie 50mm f/2 dg dn. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Chris Nebard Posted February 9, 2024 Share #2 Posted February 9, 2024 I don’t yet have the 50mm f2 Sigma but if it performs as well as their other i series lenses - and I’ve not read any reviews to say it’s inferior - then I know I would be happy. I have the Sigma 24mm f3.5, the 35mm f2 and the 45mm f2.8 (as well as Leica M lenses and 24-70 Leica VE to compare them with). They are a joy to use on my SL2-s, the optical quality is very good and I like the results from them. I’m sure the 50 - and the others in this line - work just as well on the SL. But, by all means wait until you receive a bit more objective or better technical feedback if you need it: I’m a very biased, happy user of these lenses. Quality, price, performance, all overlap very nicely with them. Whatever you choose, enjoy!
schaffi Posted February 9, 2024 Share #3 Posted February 9, 2024 (edited) I copare this two lenses on a SL2-S, the Sigma was sharper, the Bokeh was similar and little different colors. A great benefit in my opinion is the aperture ring on the Sigma. I use it now on Panasonic S5 https://www.flickr.com/photos/134578386@N06/albums/72177720307847845/ Edited February 9, 2024 by schaffi
Abenteueranalog Posted February 11, 2024 Share #4 Posted February 11, 2024 (edited) I have the Sigma 50/2 DG DN - before I used the 50/1.4 DG HSM so what I can say: The lens has a really nice rendering and delivers great sharpness. In the corners you have a little lose in sharpness but - nothing you would really notice in real world conditions. Compared to the 50/1.4 DG HSM which is a great lens with a really nice look its noticeable sharper and better corrected. This Image is on the close focus point of the lens at f2. The point is on the snail shell (middle) I also use (more often) the 35/2 DG DN and the 24-70 2.8 - all by themselfs are great lenses. And I use all of them on the 47mp of the SL2. huwm Posted February 11, 2024 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2024 If you weren’t convinced by the Lumix S, I am but I prefer the Lumix lenses to Sigma generally, then I would go straight to the Sigma as I was not convinced by any real significant superiority of the ‘rebrands’ to the originals.
