proenca Posted November 26, 2007 Share #21 Posted November 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I second what others have said : the Leica M8 is a dream camera ( for me, not for JGW but oh well, in everything in life there people who like and who doesnt like, people who are happy with certain item and people who can only see negatives becase the item doesnt adjust or had poor QC ) but if you have to go to extreme debt to get it, I would rethink : doing so for a MP or something like that would be something more sensible : I have a MP and I think 99% sure that will outlive me and I will pass it on to my children. A M8 wont outlive me, in a few years I willl get the M9 or M10. Technology is just that : it evolves. The M8 is an absolute brilliant camera for me now but lets say the M10 or M11 its full frame, winding lever programable thing, quieter shutter and so on : it would make me want to buy it. So don't commit yourself with lengthy loans for digital stuff. Not worth it. Either you have cash + credit card and can repay or otherwise forget it. Guest Posted November 26, 2007 Share #22 Posted November 26, 2007 What are the viable options for financing an M8? A good option in the UK is the buy now pay 10 months later that Jacobs offer. If you do not clear the dept after 10 months the interest rate is high but its a better alternative to cash. ken_tanaka Posted November 26, 2007 Share #23 Posted November 26, 2007 Financing a non-essential, non-income-producing, (rapidly) depreciating consumer electronics item shows extremely immature, impulsive personal financial management.
Guest Posted November 27, 2007 Share #24 Posted November 27, 2007 What ever way you pay for something ,you can be borrowig the money off someone.eg if you pay cash you are reducing you own income due to lost interest. My M8 could be fairly described as non essential/non income producing/depreciating.But I get a lot of pleasure from it,Also the 6 month interest free deal I did,on my M8 enabled me to save 30% on my WATE. on last years pay now get later deal.Net saving where £800.GBP Brian
