dhsimmonds Posted November 25, 2007 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am told that this is a very rare sight as Sea Lions do not usually adopt orphan pups. R9/DMR with R4 80-200 lens.

biglouis Posted November 25, 2007 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2007 Dave What a delightful photograph, well seen and captured (mind you, I'd be tempted to PS out the seagull). Where was this taken? LouisB
dhsimmonds Posted November 26, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted November 26, 2007 Stuart Yep, right first time, it is Kangaroo !sland, Australia, what a great place! The ranger there asked me to take this photo for him as in 50 years he had never seen a cow sea lion adopt a pup/calf(?). So a print of this is off to him in the post. There were plenty examples of what he meant, as I saw quite a few stray pups being chased off by both cows and the bull. They usually perish. Louis Yes I know what you mean about the seagull as I was in two minds about it myself. In the end I thought that by leaving it there it did give the impression of being taken on a beach rather than in a zoo!
