Einst_Stein Posted February 3, 2024 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like leather straps, especially the type that look luxury, but they usually feel stiff. The best I had is called “Rock n Roll” that is mage of small loops. It has some kind of bouncing property. But the ultimate most comfortable is actually the cheap Neoprene made strap. It has all the benefits of the above mentioned rock n roll type, and much more durable, Welcome, dear visitor! Anbaric Posted February 3, 2024 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2024 Synthetic fibres all the way! But everyone knows the best strap for an M is the Leica 14312: https://johnnymartyr.wordpress.com/2019/03/14/the-best-camera-strap-in-the-world/ Now that it's discontinued, it goes for about double the original price on ebay. Of if you have another medium-size camera with captive split rings, the Nikon AN-4B is ideal: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/37064-REG/Nikon_639_AN_4B_Nylon_Neck_Strap.html Those neoprene straps work very well on larger SLRs though, like the Op/Tech Pro: https://www.optechusa.com/products/pro-strap?variant=44409923600679
rogxwhit Posted February 3, 2024 Share #3 Posted February 3, 2024 Trouble is, synthetic fibres are filling the ecosphere (land, air, rivers, sea) with particles. Which is a great unknown, but questionable, amongst many other questions about what we do and how.

The Rock N Roll leather strap looks hideous, IMO.

LocalHero1953 Posted February 4, 2024 Share #7 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Agree on both counts: 14312 the most practical, R&R the ugliest. Best compromise: one of Luigi's 'silky' straps. Bulkier than the 14312, but comfortable on the shoulder and in the hand, looks good, and coloured to taste. Which is a great unknown, but questionable, amongst many other questions about what we do and how. I wonder what the most environmentally friendly material is? Leather is usually a by-product of raising livestock on an industrial scale, which contributes a substantial fraction of global greenhouse gas emissions (methane is a particularly potent greenhouse gas). Nylon is usually made from fossil fuel derivatives, though you can use recycled material. It can shed microplastics, though something like a camera strap will presumably have much less of an impact than an everyday item of clothing that contains more artifical fibre and is frequently washed. Perhaps the answer is a plant-based fibre like cotton, though in practice modern intensive agriculture can have serious environmental impacts, such as large-scale contamination of watercourses with fertilisers and pesticides. fotografr Posted February 5, 2024 Share #9 Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) I like straps that are supple, adjustable and comfortably wide in the area that comes in contact with the neck. The one that fills those requirements for me, and the best one I've ever found, is the Leica Wide Strap 14455. Welcome, dear visitor!
