nemendes Posted January 26, 2024 Share #1 Posted January 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Everyone! I hope all goes well! Recently I have bought my sl2-s camera and it's gorgeous. I use my m camera (m10-r) with my voigtlander 28mm f2 and summilux 50mm and I am intend to use same focal lengths with sl system. I tried my m lenses on my sl2s and results are quite good. But I want to take your opinions on whether it would be better if I use sl native lenses. Does anyone have these lenses from both systems? what do you suggest? Thanks in advance. Advertisement Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Hi nemendes, Take a look here SL-28mm and SL-50mm vs M-variants. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
insomnia Posted January 26, 2024 Share #2 Posted January 26, 2024 I use the same lenses on the SL2-S (only that I've added a 85/1.4), coming from an M10-P. If you don't need the autofocus and don't need a 50 that's sharp corner-to-corner, you have an excellent lens lineup. Adding the same focal lengths just with massive SL lenses would be redundant for me, I'd rather add something else (like a 21 and a 75). You're also fine not adding anything and getting the hack of focussing on the SL2-S, invest the money in trips to use the gear
tom0511 Posted January 26, 2024 Share #3 Posted January 26, 2024 SL APOs will have the edge specially in the corners and regarding vignetting. The bigger point would be if you want AF, which I find is specially useful at 50mm and longer. If I was just using M lenses I would just use them on a M-body. I don't have a 28 SL lens, but the 50 APO SL Summicron and love it, as well as the 35 SL. But it is certainly luxury to have comparable lenses for both systems. For 50mm the face detection AF is a real benefit, besides optical qualities.

I think I ll keep summilux but for 28mm I m considering buying sl version.

I have latest version of summilux 50mm with close focus ability, so If I decide to buy my first sl lens, I think it will be 28mm. Voigtlander is great option but sometimes I need corner to corner sharpness and close focus option (more than 0.5).
tom0511 Posted January 26, 2024 Share #6 Posted January 26, 2024 digiloyd has a review of the 28 SL APO, but it costs money. It sounds its one of the best if not the best FF 28mm lens available today.

WvE Posted February 2, 2024 Share #8 Posted February 2, 2024 For day-to-day stuff I use the lightweight SL 50mm Summicron ASPH on my SL2-s, I just love the AF and its compactness. For portraits, I use my Sonnar 1.5. 1
tomasis7 Posted February 3, 2024 Share #9 Posted February 3, 2024 (edited) try only one SL lens. I have only M lenses as well and im in the same boat as you. A Summicron SL, I assume. Edited February 3, 2024 by tomasis7

A Summicron SL, I assume. I have bought Apo-sl 50mm and so far its great lens. It's well balanced with sl2-s, maybe not for a 'casual travel' (I mean without having any photography plans), but very suitable for professional work. I think I ll order 28mm soon as well and will share my opinions. Btw i have summilux 50mm close focus as well and when I ll compare them, let you know as well. 1
tom0511 Posted April 8, 2024 Share #11 Posted April 8, 2024 I now have also a 28 APO SL and love it. Less vignetting than the 28 M Summicron, nice bokeh, great tonality. If you plan to use the lens only on SL body, I recommend the 28 SL over the M version.
