Tor-B Posted January 6, 2024 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, just got a M10M and it has some small scratches (see picture), any experience in how to remove these? Is it a coating here that i will destroy if I'm using toothpaste and water ? Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted January 6, 2024 Posted January 6, 2024 Hi Tor-B, Take a look here Scratch removal on front viewfinder Leia M10M/M10 ect. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted January 7, 2024 Share #2 Posted January 7, 2024 The first thing I'd do is make sure it isn't just something sticky. A grinding paste like toothpaste or T-Cut won't polish glass, but probably wouldn't affect any coating either. I'd leave it alone.
Derbyshire Man Posted January 20, 2024 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2024 Gosh that's depressing! Any idea how it happened? Did you ask Leica how much to replace the glass?
Tor-B Posted January 25, 2024 Author Share #4 Posted January 25, 2024 (edited) @Derbyshire Man No, i haven't. I can't see it at all when taking pictures and you need to get it in the right light to see it too.. Its extremely minor Living in Norway, and to the best of my knowledge, it means i would need to send the camera to Germany for fix. Which takes for ever. So no, didn't check price on this. I like to be able to fix things myself I now i can get this scratch out, but i need to now if there is a coating there that would end up be destroyed. Tor-B Posted January 25, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted January 25, 2024 @250swb Unfortunately yes, i'm 100% sure its a small scratch and not grime You can destroy coating with toothpaste and or rubbing compound , but it will also deal with the scratch there (most likely ) I also just contemplating on leaving it as is. You can't see when you are actually using it.
Mute-on Posted January 25, 2024 Share #6 Posted January 25, 2024 Yes, just clean it and leave the scratches alone. You would certainly do more damage trying to remove them.
