mrkennethtong Posted January 4, 2024 Share #1  Posted January 4, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Went to buy a spare battery for the Q3 and the guy who sold me the Camera at Leica reviewed my settings and advised me to always use PASM Mode. Issue is it is far too complicated with too many variables, suddenly I have to pick a ton of options! Back onto Auto it goes.

jaapv Posted January 4, 2024 Share #4  Posted January 4, 2024 A salesman  is not Leica…I too am wondering what the complication might be?? It might be useful to consult the manual.
Driften Posted January 5, 2024 Share #5 Â Posted January 5, 2024 There is no PASM mode. It stands for Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual. It's based off the settings around a dial on many cameras. Some cameras use a different order of the same modes. The Q series doesn't even have a PASM dial as it knows what mode you are trying to use based off which settings are on A. P-A-S-M in the scene mode menu just is telling the camera to not use any of the auto mode scenes. There is also a menu setting for exposure simulation to be on for P-A-S-M or just P-A-S so that you don't get a simulation when on manual. That is mostly for when you are using studio flash and the screen would be all black since the flash isn't firing while you are composing and the manual settings are for "no flash no picture" to remove ambient light.
