dubois pierre Posted January 4, 2024 Author Share #11 Posted January 4, 2024 My wish now is to see a new Leica Luxus to continue their history. Factually, there are still 75% of them left. But it's very likely that many of them have been destroyed or permanently lost.

dubois pierre Posted February 19, 2024 Author Share #13 Posted February 19, 2024 Nice, but an auction which sets the bar very high in its estimate (18,000/24,000 euros). This Leica is not listed in the official Leicas Luxus listing.
PG Black nickel Posted February 19, 2024 Share #14 Posted February 19, 2024 However, Pierre is well placed between 48440 and 48444, so there could be some doubt!
dubois pierre Posted February 19, 2024 Author Share #15 Posted February 19, 2024 Philippe, the problem is that with doubt some people can make a lot of money😏.
willeica Posted February 19, 2024 Share #16 Posted February 19, 2024 Link to details here. https://auction-team.de/project/leica-ic-luxus-gold/ Anyone interested should ask at info@leica-camera.com about the delivery details. If it is genuine, it is a very rare item, indeed. It is a non standardised I Model C and the lens 'should' have a matching number (either 5 or 3 digits) with that of the camera. I cannot see one on the auctioneer's photos. Lars showed this to a group of us in Wetzlar last October, but the reptile skin would not match what is on the Breker item! The engraving on the gold clasp was lovely. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! dubois pierre Posted February 20, 2024 Author Share #17 Posted February 20, 2024 Another problem lies in the description which states that only one Leica Luxus appears in the official 48000 series. Which is incorrect since there are 33 Luxus type Leicas in this series. “ Note: In the first published number lists for the Leica Luxus, only one camera from the 1931 production year was listed in the 48,000 range: #48441.” The second anomaly is the last 3 digits of the serial number engraved on the lens barrel which do not seem to correspond to the original engravings found on the 48417 for example. The third anomaly is that it appears that the Elmar lens was a lens that was engraved with “0” as a sign of standardization. Indeed it is easier to find a standardized Elmar to make a copy and this one seems to have been "scratched". Well, that's my opinion. Under no circumstances does the seller indicate at any time the authenticity of this Leica as an original Luxus. Welcome, dear visitor! dubois pierre Posted February 20, 2024 Author Share #18 Posted February 20, 2024 Generally the numbers engraved on the lens are identical to those engraved on the lens. The thickness also of the numbers, the number 2 is strange and not in the same plane as the 4. Finally it seems to me that we see the remains of the old "0" therefore standardized object Welcome, dear visitor! You should talk to Jim Lager about the great many variations in Leica engraving, which often depended on who did it or even on what day of the week it was done. If I were a bidder for this potentially very expensive camera, which I will not, I would be checking the delivery details with the Leica Archive. dubois pierre Posted February 20, 2024 Author Share #20 Posted February 20, 2024 Dear William, there is no entry on the official register that N°48442 would have been released as Luxus nor for 48441 and the 48443. 9 minutes ago, willeica said: Tout ce que je peux dire, c'est « Que Dieu bénisse votre vue ». William Dear William, soon all Leica Ia will be Luxus😏. No. 48442 was not registered in the official register as Luxus nor for 48441 and 48443. https://sites.google.com/view/letonnantehistoiredesleicaslux/accueil
