Hi, Leica enthusiasts:

I've just made my plan to go to Venice Carnival 2024, are there any suggestions for the M lens combo?

I anticipate it will be super crowded in the normal hours(from 8:00am till late), has anyone tried shooting in the early dawn or dusk hours there?

My initial idea:

Two M bodies M11, M11-p, with either 35mm lux + 75mm Nocti or 28mm Elmarit + 50mm Nocti. Is the 21mm lux a good option to shoot the environmental portrait by the seaside?

Not sure If I can get that close, the longest focal length on my shelf is 90mm Elmar f4. I'm thinking of bringing the never-used SF40 flashlight, maybe it's better than no light in the darkness.

I checked some videos and comments, it seems that 75mm and 90mm give the most flattering results.

Any suggestions will be helpful!

I shot the Carnival in 2006 with my D200 and mostly a lowly 18-200 Nikon superzoom plus an 35mm prime (~50mm on APSC). Despite the lowly equipment, I still enjoy the shots. A few findings:

I found using long lenses very useful for detail shots and portraits of the costumed people.

I did not miss going wider than ~28mm.

I found one camera with a zoom very practical. In the Venice crowd, i would be very concerned about the second camera and my ability to position myself as needed, especially for the Carnival shots.
