theseahawk Posted December 22, 2023 Share #1  Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) After completing a photo trip this month the SD card in my SL2 is keeping a set of 115 DNGs on the card and they appear to be protected from deletion in Mac's Image Capture application. There is no visible icon or indication on the info display of these images in the SL2 that signifies they are protected from deletion. I can't find any "deletion protection" function in the camera's menus although the manual refers to "deletion protection" not protecting images when an SD card is reformatted in camera. I can delete the images in camera but I had stopped doing that since then the file numbering was started over and I've shot enough photos this quarter (which is how I have photo files arranged, by year and quarter) that that was causing file number collision.  is there a deletion protection flag available in camera on the SL2? if so, how is it turned on or off? is there a way to preserve the numbering sequence if I format the card after I move each set of photos off it during file management/post-processing? thanks for any insights   Edited December 22, 2023 by theseahawk clarity
Advertisement Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Hi theseahawk, Take a look here "deletion protection" function: how to turn on/off. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dpitt Posted December 23, 2023 Share #2  Posted December 23, 2023 For changing/preserving the numbering, see here Post #7 should work, if not, try shooting just one shot , take out the card and rename the file too.
