Usual Put's style, appreciable.
Advertisement Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Hi luigi bertolotti, Take a look here Puts on Summarits ... starting. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rosuna Posted November 22, 2007 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2007 Puts had a mixed opinion about Walter Mandler's lenses. He said these lenses were very good, but just "mainstream" designs. I would like to know if the new Summarits have changed this opinion. The Summarits are "mainstream" lenses, like the ZM Zeiss lenses, but really superb pieces of optical design. Small, at reasonable cost and with fantastic capabilities. Mandler did this kind of design 30 years ago, and he did many advanced designs. I like the new ASPH designs, of course, and ASPH lenses seem to be necessary for particular specifications (35mm f/1.4), but this classic spherical designs are great even today, as the Summicron 35mm vIV or the Summicron 50mm are. Another question is what will happen to the Summicron 50mm (the Noctilux is a more complex case). The new Summarit preserves the basic philosophy and fingerprint and the difference is just a half of one stop. Maybe Leica is considering a new Summicron 50mm ASPH lens.
